Cellular Pathology

The role of the advisory body is to organise a programme of meetings, seminars and workshops for members of the AMLS supporting continual professional development, promoting the exchange of information between medical scientists in Histopathology and Cytopathology and keeping abreast of all relevant research and emerging developments in Histopathology and Cytopathology.

Clinical Chemistry

The Clinical Chemistry Advisory Body aims to support continuing professional development through the promotion of best practice and new developments within both clinical chemistry and inclusive of global health developments, guidelines and care delivery standards. The Advisory Body also seeks to promote a multidisciplinary, patient focused philosophy through collaboration with other Advisory bodies, clinical professionals and patient focus groups. The Advisory body organises a series of programmes including an annual lecture series and essay and multiple choice topics for the CPD programme.

Haematology

The haematology advisory body (HAB), in common with the other advisory bodies, plays a vital role in the overall function of the Academy. The members of the body are based in hospitals throughout Ireland and organise programmes of one day meetings, seminars, training courses and national meeting lectures relevant to the field of laboratory haematology. They also research and prepare topics for the Continuous Professional Development programme. This work helps ensure that all the members are kept up to date with developments in their areas of expertise.

Immunology

The Immunology Advisory Body’s aim is to organise educational meetings, seminars and workshops on topics relevant to the field of laboratory immunology. We promote and support continuous professional development and through this new web-site aim to provide up to date information on new developments, interesting articles and guidelines for best practice. Also through the Forum section we aim to provide a platform for discussion and to exchange information with other interested parties.

Information Technology

This Ad­vi­so­ry Body deals with all areas of Information Technology as re­lat­ed to Med­i­cal Sci­en­tists. It provide a forum for the development and assessment of changes in information technology that affect the AMLS and it's members. It acts as a consulting and advisory service to the academy council when required and is also available to all members as a source of IT information.

Microbiology

The role of the Microbiology Advisory Body is to organise educational meetings, seminars and workshops on topics relevant to Microbiology. Our aim is to provide the latest information on new developments and guidelines for best practice. We also promote and support the Continuous Professional Development programme.

Transfusion and Transplantation Science

This Advisory Body deals with all areas of blood transfusion and transplantation science as related to Medical Scientists. For further information check out this home page.

Virology

The function of our Advisory Body is multi-fold. Essentially to provide education, clinical and diagnostic advice, by open forum and discussion to all interested parties, on all aspects of clinical and diagnostic virology. We promote and support continuous professional development and exchange of information between practising medical scientists. Through this new section of our website we aim to provide a useful platform to accommodate our role.
